Field guide № 02 — Shops, cafés & restaurants

A website your customers can order from — and you can run yourself.

Marketplace apps take a third of every order. DIY site builders stall the moment you need something real. And the last developer disappeared after launch. We build fast, ownable sites and ordering for independent shops — then hand you the keys.

For butchers, bakers, restaurants, cafés, and specialist retailers across Aotearoa — from single counters to multi-location operations.

§ 01 — What we build

From shop window
to back room.

Everything an independent shop needs online, built once, built properly, and handed over so you can run it without a developer on call.

Sites that get found

Fast, local-SEO-tuned pages that put you on the map when someone nearby searches for what you sell — and load before they lose patience.

Order-ahead & click-and-collect

Customers order from their phone, you get the order in the back room, and their goods are ready when they walk in. No marketplace commission.

Menus & content you update yourself

Prices, hours, specials — changed by whoever is behind the counter, not by emailing a developer and waiting a week.

Back-office tools

Admin apps for orders, stock, and customers when the business outgrows a notebook by the till. We have built these for our own shop clients.

§ 02 — Work in this field

Shops you can
order from today.

Alongside these, we've built a Turkish bakery's site and a back-office admin app for shop owners — same bed, same care.

№ 01

Istanbul Halal Meats

Retail & e-commerce

Online ordering site for a hand-cut halal butcher in Mount Roskill — order ahead and your cuts are ready for pickup within the hour.

Outcome — customers order from their phone; the counter queue got shorter, the order book got longer.

№ 02

Kofte Kofte

Hospitality

Website for a Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant with two Auckland locations, built to get hungry visitors from search to a table or an order, fast.

Outcome — one site serving two locations, from search result to seated table in a few taps.

§ 03 — Packages

Priced like a job,
not a mystery.

Three ways to engage, each with a floor price you can see before you email us. Every build ends with a handover — the site is yours.

§ 04 — Common questions

Asked at the
counter.

Do I actually own the site?

Yes. Domain, hosting, and code are set up in your name from day one. If we part ways, everything keeps working and any developer can pick it up. No proprietary platform, no ransom.

What are the ongoing costs?

Hosting for a site like this typically runs under $30 NZD a month, plus your domain. The Keeper retainer is optional — some clients run their site entirely on their own after handover, and that is by design.

Can you move us off Wix, Squarespace, or an old WordPress site?

Yes, and we do it without losing your Google ranking — existing pages get properly redirected, and your content comes across cleanly. This is one of the most common jobs we do.

How long does it take?

A Shopfront build is usually live in about three weeks from when we have your content. Ordering builds take longer — typically five to seven weeks — because we test the order flow with your actual counter workflow before launch.

Do you integrate with delivery platforms?

We can, but we will usually first show you what direct ordering saves you. Marketplace commissions of 30% often fund the entire build within months. Where a platform still makes sense, we wire it in.

§ 05 — Contact

Tell us about
your shop.

We read every enquiry ourselves and reply within two working days. Quick chats, long briefs, half-formed ideas — all welcome.

Send a short note about what you sell, where you are, and what's not working with your current setup — even if the answer is 'we don't have one yet'. We'll reply with a few questions and a straight answer on fit and price.
